Shannon Hurley - Singer and songwriter
Although I've been playing music all my life, it wasn't always just singing and piano. I started out with the least 'trendy' instrument available: the trombone. I began that in 5th grade and played it all the way through college (I got my degree in trombone performance). My dreams of being in a symphony were quickly replaced by my ambition to rock out on the stage. In 1998 I joined Jyemo, a funk band in Boulder, Colorado. In March 2001 I left this talented group to pursue music in L.A. Songwriting is now my raison d'etre. I still love classical however, and recently wrote a trombone and piano sonata that was published and is studied in The University of Colorado's music department in their course on women composers.
